The weekend

I'm back tonight with the girls from Bob's Dad's funeral. It will take me months to process the experience.

A few things that really hit me during these couple of days:

Going through someone's belongings is sacred. Our possessions tell our stories. It was fascinating to see the various interests Al had. Do you know anyone else with 10 harmonicas?

Brokeness does not prevent one from living a meaningful life. A meaningful life is built by small kindnesses shared each day.

The term dysfunctional family should be eliminated from our vocabularies. All familes are wackey and we are all sure ours is the worst.

God's grace can provide healing in utterly miraculous ways.

I'm sure more will follow. My sweet husband gave a lovely eulogy for his Dad. I can think of few times I have been prouder of him. He spoke with such tenderness...he spoke with love. His brother , Bill, and sister, Cathi, did beautiful readings. Bob, Bill, and Cathi gave their Dad a graceful ending. In that ending, they found a new beginning in their relationships.

About Me

Hmmm...Who am I? let's see the facts first. I'm 48 years old, married to my high school sweet heart, Bob. I I'm a mess most of the time, but everyone always thinks I really have it together. I love to listen to people and hear their stories. Art and writing are my spiritual practices. I deeply believe in god and that god is love. My theology is wide and constantly changing. When I was 18 I wrote out 4 pages single spaced on spiritual questions I had about life. I'm not sure I've answered any of them.
