I have created a wonderful prayer/art room. I am just thrilled with it. I used to have an art room in the garage...but it was hot and musty in the summer. My new room feels like I am in a tree house. I have many of my favorite treasures...a quilt from my Dad's family,my great grandmother's blanket, pictures of family, the girl's artwork. I made an altar out of an old picnic basket and a tablecloth.
For the past few weeks, I have timidly hung out in my new room. I have had that "first date" feeling---who is going to make the first move? how fast or slow is this relationhip going to go? is this the one?
Today I decided to spend the morning hanging out in my new room. I lit some candles and sat quietly praying. God in his /her infinite wisdom showed up like an old friend. I read the Bible, prayed morning prayer, played with my motherpeace cards (no judgements)...more than anything I felt the warm hand of God sitting beside me encouraging me to live fully into Perfect Love.
Step out a little further.....open your heart a little wider...be still and know that I am God.

About Me
- lisa carlton
- Hmmm...Who am I? let's see the facts first. I'm 48 years old, married to my high school sweet heart, Bob. I I'm a mess most of the time, but everyone always thinks I really have it together. I love to listen to people and hear their stories. Art and writing are my spiritual practices. I deeply believe in god and that god is love. My theology is wide and constantly changing. When I was 18 I wrote out 4 pages single spaced on spiritual questions I had about life. I'm not sure I've answered any of them.

What a wonderful thing to have a space like that... that's something I would like to create in my house, but we are not there yet... and congratulations on the decision to make a change and leave your job!
motherpeace cards? tell me more.
motherpeace cards...are basically round tarot cards based on female images. they are quite cool, although, the whole idea of card reading scares some people. for me they are another way for the spirit to lend guidance in my life.
I have only just allowed myself into the world of blogging, today was my first visit to your blog. You have a beautiful blog, lovely way of writing and profound sensitive thought. Especially the one on 'freedom'.
I love this idea of a prayer typ room, when I have a home of myslef I'd love a space like that.
Just one question: How can you talk about being in the stillness of the presence of God, enjoying spending time with Him and in the same post talk about Tarot cards?
'the spirit to lend guidance in my life. '
Which Spirit are you talking about here?
